RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL – London, times, locations and prices vary. See website for details.
Raindance has established itself as a major film festival in the UK as well as being internationally recognised as one of the best that focuses on independent film. It runs from the 26th September until 7th October and has far too many screenings, discussions and filmmaking masterclasses to mention in this little blurb, so check out their website to see what’s on offer.
SHOWREEL – Balham Bowls Club, 7-9 Ramsden Road, Balham, London, SW12 8QX – 8:30pm – £2.50
LET’S KEEP IT SHORT – Hackney Picturehouse, 270 Mare Street, Hackney, London, E8 1HE

EXPLODING CINEMA – The Others, 6-8 Manor House Road, Stoke Newington, London, N16 5SA – 7:30pm – £5
Super independent film night (I’m not sure what that means, something about not having money) Exploding Cinema is on this Friday. What’s it all about? I’ll let them explain…
London’s most embodied film club returns with another bunch of eye scarring gems !
Featuring uncurated D.I.Y. OPEN ACCESS short films, spectacular visuals, interviews with embodied filmmakers, performative gestures, lovely music and surprise guests.
FRIGHT AT THE PROMS ALL-NIGHTER – The Roxy, 128-132 Borough High Street, Borough, London, SE1 1LB – 10pm-7am – £15
This night, as part of the Beyond Scala season, is focused on (obsessed with?) that very specific sub-genre of High School Prom Horror films. Over the course of the night, and morning, they’re showing Prom Night (1980), Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2 (1987), The Loved Ones (2009) and Carrie (1976). You also get free coffee, a free cocktail and a free breakfast bap! I like a good breakfast bap.
Nope! Raindance is still on though. Go to it. It’s calling you. http://www.raindance.co.uk/site/index.php?aid=8688
SHOOTERS IN THE PUB – Hackney Picturehouse, 270 Mare Street, Hackney, London, E8 1HE – 6:30pm – FREE
Run by the lovely people from shootingpeople.org, Shooters in the Pub is the monthly meet up for filmmakers. No screenings or any of that flim-flammery, just filmmakers meeting up to have a few drinks and polite conversation about making films. A great place to find people to work with if you’ve got a project or are looking for one.
Nope! Raindance is still on though (Still). Go to it (again). It’s calling you (still/again). http://www.raindance.co.uk/site/index.php?aid=8690
