ENCOUNTERS SHORT FILM AND ANIMATION FESTIVAL – Bristol, locations, times and prices vary
Encounters runs for five days until the 23rd with a range of events across Bristol. Some of the highlights include a talk by documentary filmmaker Kim Longinotto, a filmmaking masterclass from BAFTA nominated cinematographer Lol Crawley, and a talk on funding opportunities for short filmmakers. Naturally there’s also a raft of film screenings to attend.
FEAST ON FILM – Moors Bar, 57 Park Road, Crouch End, N8 8SY – 7:30pm – FREE
The monthly film night in northest London is on tonight, with 6 short-films on show, curated by Danish filmmaker Phillip Berg.
CYCLE-IN CINEMA: MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL - Hackney City Farm, Goldsmith’s Road, Bethnal Green, London, E2 8QA – 7pm – £5
Squeezing it in before the weather turns rubbish, Magnificent Revolution are hosting the famous(ish) Cycle-In Cinema, showing Monty Python’s Holy Grail. For those unfamiliar with the event, they bascially hook up a mess of bikes to a bunch of generators then the audience takes turns to pedal, which powers the cinema. Gorilla Film Magazine (the site you’re on now, using a computer to access) will also be there showing some short films and flogging some mags and T-Shirts. There’s hot food and suitably temperatured ales at the event, but it is open air, so we suggest bringing a blanket or animal skin.
BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL – The Odean, Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4DP – Times and prices vary
The Brazilian Film Festival runs until the 25th, offering a mix of features and shorts from established and up and coming Brazilian filmmakers.
CINEME: AWARD WINNING SHORTS – The Tobacco Factory, Raleigh Road, Bristol, BS3 1TF – 8pm – £3
CineMe’s usual monthly short film screening night is being invaded by winners, with most of those on show being winners at various film festivals from around the world. There’s some other shorts to go along with these (hey buddy, it’s not all about winning. We’re still proud of you) and a DVD giveaway.
