THURSDAY 26th
FIST IN GLOVE: FILMMAKERS AND THE BOXING RING – The Horse Hospital, Colonnade, Bloomsbury, London, WC1N 1JD – 6:30pm – FREE
In sport, Boxing is uniquely suited to producing stories for cinema; the focus on one character, metaphorical as well as literal combat, the murky associations with organized crime and the often rags to riches (and sometimes back to rags) story of the participants offer up a rich variety of angles to tell human stories. Fist in Glove’s two-hour programme surveys the boxing film genre and asserts its place in history. Tickets are free, but booking is essential, RSVP to boxingfilms2012@gmail.com

CYCLE IN CINEMA PRESENTS: EVIL DEAD 2 – Hackney City Farm, 1a Goldsmiths Row, Hackney, London, E2 8QA – 7:30pm – Suggested Donation £5
Now that the weather isn’t complete dogcrap (at time of writing) Magnificent Revolution and Gorilla Film Magazine are having another crack at the popular, outdoor, pedal powered film night, with the cult classic Evil Dead 2 on show. For the uninitiated amongst you (I’m sick of typing this, just go) we set up a big screen and soundsystem in a field, link it up to 10 bikes attached to generators, then members of the audience take it in turns to pedal and power the whole event. And to keep you fuelled there’s food and booze available to buy on site. Great way to spend a summer evening (might still want to bring a blanket, because, well, this is Britain).
